The players of the event thanked me for running it by voting me best GM this year even though I was clearly not really the best GM as I didn't get an event write up turned in. (They didn't know that when they voted, though I did get some comments about that the next year.)

Titan 2
WBC 1999
GM David desJardins
32 entrants
This year's Titan 2 tournament had a perfect five-round field of 32 entrants, down somewhat from last year at Avaloncon but the second highest ever. Previous winners Ed Rothenheber and Bruno Wolff fell in the first round. Two-time winner Brian Sutton lasted until the semi-finals before falling to David Finberg. The final came down to previous multiplayer Titan champ David Finberg against last year's Titan 2 finalist Jason Ley.
The two met three years ago in Titan 2, when Finberg narrowly prevailed. This year, Jason was chasing David's titan early in the game, but David rolled a 1 and ducked into a tower to recruit a warlock and become the pursuer. He followed this with a 6, and chose a second warlock over an immediate attack. After several bad rolls, Jason's titan had to run from David's angel legion into the marsh in front of David's titan. The titan-on-titan battle appeared to favor David, who left a Cyclops off the board in order to ensure summoning his angel. But several bad rolls meant this strategy was a failure, and Jason Ley was the 1999 champion.
